Anybody got some quail shot?

SCARY

Is it bad when an entire new group of people begin calling you Cheney?  As in Vice President Dick Cheney?

Such was the case last night.  After the craziness of Laser Tag and Whirly Ball (Ohioans are always looking for new indoor sports seeing as that we are entering the 6 month phenomenon that is Ohio Winter), I joined my coworker and some friends at her house for a little bit of Asshole.  Wow, that sounds really dirty.  It's just a drinking game.

For those who don't know the game, a bunch of people sit in a circle and try to beat the card the previous person just threw.  2s are Wild, doubles must be matched with doubles.  If you don't match, you drink. After the first round, ranks are decided based on who was out (had no cards first).  President. Vice President. 3. 4. and so on until the last ranked. The Asshole.  The great thing about being highly ranked is that you can make rules for everyone underneath you.  Those who do not obey have to drink.  Having played this game before, let's just say... I rule with an iron fist.  ("No 'Drink, Drank, Drunk,' Thumb rule, No Cursing).

Maybe the power went to my head a little and maybe an offhand joke about being the Dick Cheney of Asshole lead to it.  But either way, a nickname was born.  I'm really not sure whether to take this as a compliment to my thorough VP skills or a nod to my power hungry tyrant alter-ego.  I'd like to think the former.

November Daze: the Soundtrack.

You probably think I don't have a job. Rest assured, though, I do. I work as a project coordinator for a development firm. Right now we are slow so I spend most of my time over-thinking things and surfing the 'net on my Mac OS X at the office. So I thought, what could I do in the confines of this lovely office if I could do whatever I wanted. So I decided to put together the most awesome, most perfect soundtrack as we begin the grayness that is the month of November. You may/may not have heard of a lot of these songs. You may/may not care. However, I am pledging to keep the next three days drama free (No Drama Weekend) so I really am lacking in hot material today

So, here is my attempt at a decent november soundtrack (apologies if it sounds like something from "Grey's Anatomy"):

1. "DC Sleeps Alone Tonight" by Postal Service. (in my opinion one of the best post breakup songs ever.)

2. "Take Ecstasy with Me" by Magnetic Fields. (when i hear this song i picture flurries of white snow on a gray day.)

3. "Run" by Snow Patrol

4. "1234" by Feist

5. "Evil" by Interpol (i don't know why. the song is just great and i love the video).

6. "Hazy Shade of Winter" by the Bangles (it was getting a little to melodramatic- needed to pick it up. andrew mccarthy, james spader, downey jr., and jamie gertz always make me happy- watch "less than zero." so wonderful.).

7. "Homecoming" by Kanye West, feat. Chris Martin. (It's really just good to bump it with the piano and the midwest love affair lyrics).

8. "Don't Panic" by Coldplay. (again, I just love the song so much and it's a wink to hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy)

9. "Grey Street" by DMB. (a nod to PVille guy- :( )

11. "Breath Me" by Sia. ("6 feet" is possibly the best show ever put on tv.)

12. "I will Possess Your Heart" by Death Cab. (sounds really creepy and it is- to me anyway. and no, death cab is not emo.)

13. "Woman's Work" by Maxwell (i adore the kate bush version, but i needed a little more hot r&b singer...)

14. "Ocean Breathes Salty" by Modest Mouse (just more moody music but more upbeat this time).

15. I really want to just put every U2 song ever written in here. So I'm going to go with "Walk On" to close it up. (it's not the official video because i couldn't find one i could embed, but this song really gets me out of bed in the morning. i love bono.)

So, you may like it, you may not. You also may have found some new bands to look into today (although I'm really hoping that you've heard of DMB, U2, and Kanye West because otherwise I would have to question if you'd been living under a rock for the past decade). It's too labor intensive to find all of the YouTube links and put them in, plus the post would be like five miles long. You may have to do some research on your own.

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!

You know its bad when people start sending you clips of McEnroe to make you feel better. And you know it's worse when it actually does. God I love you, Johnny Mack, but we would end up killing each other. (**Thanks Jason, from executedtoday.com). To the rest of you, this is how I've been feeling on a daily basis. It's classic immaturity.

Hey baby, what's your sign?

It's been recently pointed out to me (like five minutes ago recently) that I have a temper.

"i'm tired of ur tantrums then u turning around and acting like nothing happened. ive actually forgiven quite a few." PVille Guy.

It's what drives me and it's what gets me into trouble.  I want to say that I don't believe in astrology, but I can't.  I'm such a typical Aries that I should be its poster child.  John was a Pisces.  Adjacent signs should never be together, or so I'm told. I guess there is something behind it all: maybe a 2000+ yr old "science" should not be so easily dismissed.

To make it worse, I'm only 25.  I have not yet gained the experience to be patient or the grace to "let God handle it".  I am that Ram out in the field looking for a fight.  Sadly, with the events of the past week, it's been with PVille guy.  A million "I'm sorry"s aren't enough.

Being an Aries has yet to work out for my advantage.  You may say, "But you're extremely passionate about your life!" but then I'd tell you that I haven't gone off on you yet.  You'd change your mind then.

The truth is, the sign for Aries should not be the Ram.  It should be the Locust.  We're fast, furious, and determined.  Until the corn fields are stripped bare and the people are exhausted.  We say goodbye too quickly and move on to new fields to wear down.

(I might also add that in addition to the fire sign, I'm also Irish and my father's daughter.  A triple threat in tantrums).

So, sorry to those who've been effected by the "Diva" alter-ego.  Blame it on me.  Blame it on the Greeks.  Blame it on the stars.  But really, you should probably blame it on me- dead Greeks aren't going to fix the holes in your wall from my stilettos.

Carry on.

Time to move the hell along.

I realized, after watching a commercial for "Twilight," that I really don't understand the youths of today.  Their music (emo), their movies (vampires), their idols (lohan, duff, hilton, spears), and so here, in no specific order, is a list of things that make me feel ninety years old.

1. "Twilight."  Please don't hate me for this.  I really just don't get it.  "Harry Potter" I got.  This is lining up to be the biggest book-to-movie franchise ever so I am trying to figure out why.  It's pretty much the fantasy of wrist-cutting, "goth" thirteen year olds everywhere.  Points for Cam Gidgan-I-don't-know being in it, because I've loved him ever since his Kevin Volchik days murdering Marissa on "the OC".  MINUS points for the fact that everyone in it could use a few days in the OC, as they are lacking tans... and smiles!  By the way, he looks way better (seen here in OC days) with short hair.

2. Emo music.  Ok, I've had a problem with this ever since it became popular (which, thankfully, was a year after I was out of high school).  Seriously, go to iTunes, make an emo playlist of all your faves (Hawthorne Heights, My Chem, Panic! At the Disco, Fallout Boy, The Academy Is, Saves the Day, All American Rejects, etc.) NEWSFLASH: It. Sounds. The. Same.

1 whiney front singer + band + semi-intelligent words strung together to make nonsensical lyrics + black eyeliner = EMO.

3. What you all look like.  I'm looking at the boys for this one.  I was walking in the mall the other day and I've never seen so many effeminate high school boys in my life!  Are the days of A&F boys over?  The long hair, the side parts, the tight ass skinny jeans, some of  you wear nail polish, some of you wear makeup.  I realize this is influenced by the emo movement, but please... no more tight skinny jeans on boys.  Wear some baggy ass jeans that fall below your waste like you used to when music was good.

4. Tokio Hotel.  This had to be its own category outside of emo.  What. The. Fuck.

5. What do you kids actually watch on TV these days?  The CW network doesn't have the viewers... I know you aren't sitting down to watch Law & Order or CSI with your grandparents.  Probably because you all are on the computers playing your RPGs.

6. RPGs (Role Playing Games).  This is why you are all so pale.  Go outside!  Gears of War and World of Warcraft will be there when you get back.

Ok, hope that was a little lighter. :)

My Zimbio

Hurt.

im truly sorry I have been mean to u. but I don't know any other way to get u to let me be. I realy don't want to mess up what I have going with sarah, and I truly don't know how u are with me being happy with another woman??? only u have the answer for that. ithink she feels a little threaten by u, since we have such a long history together. for almost 3 years. and it didn't help when u said what u said; remember she doesn't know u how I do.she just thinks ur a exgf that still wants me. I don't want to loose u as a friend, but at the same time I don't want to loose my girl. im stuck in a catch 22. I hope u can understand where im standing. its a very tough situation for me to be in. if u want to be friends with mary then u can't talk to her bout me. it realy makkes her not like u when u do that. yes I am in love with "the baby momma" as u tell to mary. and im not trying to be anything im not. being with her has made me relize the ammount of responsibility I have been lacking. yes her having a baby isn't the perfect situation but seeing how happy he makes her. that makes me happy. so it most deff worth it to me. I hope all is well with u and realy wish u nothing but the best for ur life,

love alwaysse, john

(MySpace message entitled "Time Will Heal All Wounds")

"Face it, you predicate everything on John.  You will never b w ne one except for him." PVille guy expressing his "frustrations" right before saying that he needs "space"

So some days are better then others... some are worse.  I threw up because my gut just can't take any of this.  I've changed my number, blocked my MySpace.  I'm just done.  I don't know how many times I can say it, either.  Sorry, this isn't very funny today.  I'll try and do something ridiculous later to offset it.

Election Night via Texts.

So, if you read my post from 4 years ago this week, you will know that I had quite the traumatic experience when Bush defeated Kerry.  Obviously, I'm more towards the Left but I'm posting this stuff for Rights, Lefts, Reds, and Blues alike to laugh at.  I don't want to impose political views on anyone.

Alanna, my BFF in the 313, was with me in '04 and we texted each other last night as it all went down.  Just thought I'd share so you can see the insanity.

Me: Dude, I can't help it.  NBC is on. Going out 4 smokes. Otherwise I will have no nails and gain 10lbs from compulsively eating.

Me: Shit shit shit. VA looking like McCain.  Indy too.

Alanna: Yeah, still avoiding it.

Me: It will suck you in man. Dont do it.

Alanna: My inner 'pre-2004 red sox fan' is coming out. I'm heading for the fetal position just in case.

Me: I don't have any beer.  I'm taking this one in sober. It's hard.

Alanna: Not gonna lie. Broke out the vodka.

Me: I have old wine. does that go bad?

Alanna: Not unless you believe Lucille Bluth (see Development, Arrested). I think you're a ok.

Me: it's a good night, i feel it. john did a 180. it was sunny. pville guy is acting nice. the stars are aligned.

Me: Fox news called ohio for obama. looks like we got it right this time.

Alanna: just read an article about a 114 year-old daughter of former slaves who got to vote for obama today. can't stop crying.

Me: (inexplicably and uncontrollably laughing) hahahahaha.  why am i laughing? what's wrong with  me?

Then there was convo about Keith Olbermann, Ben Affleck, me not understanding "Twilight" (is it like the harry potter?).

Then, I turned the tv off (@this point,  Obama had taken Pennsylvania and Ohio) .  And was falling asleep when:

Alanna: AHHHH!!

So I turned it on.  3 was on commercial. 4 commercial. 5 commercial.  The only station on was Telemundo.  SI!  Obama es el presidente! Si podemos!  Then I saw Jesse Jackson crying and Big Ops crying and people of ever color and religion and orientation coming together.

Like I said, it was a pretty good night. :)
